Our Estates

Linejo y Calzadilla de Mendigos

Calzadilla de Mendigos

This is the estate where the ranch's mother cows and stud bulls currently graze. It comes from the Sánchez family, the maternal branch of the current owner. In the early 20th century a testing ring (plaza de tientas) was built by the stream and the stone bridge, next to the stone farmhouse overlooking a wide area of dehesa crossed by the Cañada Real de la Plata, which coincides at this point with the Camino de Santiago (the Ruta Jacobea de la Plata).

The role of head herdsman (mayoral) on this estate has been held by four consecutive generations of the same family, currently José Antonio Martín Sánchez.

Calzadilla de Mendigos

Linejo

Right in the heart of the Salamanca countryside (campo charro), it offers abundant, high-quality pasture for the herd's upkeep and development. This is where the male cattle are kept from the time they are branded until they leave the ranch, except for those that return to Calzadilla as stud bulls.

It has been the ranch's home estate since 1965, when Mr. Juan Mari Pérez-Tabernero inherited this part of the ranch from his father, Mr. Antonio Pérez, registered in the name of his wife, Mrs. María Montalvo.
